Food shoots can take place in your restaurant or kitchen in Edinburgh or in a controlled studio setting depending on the style required. On-location shoots are especially useful for capturing your food in its natural environment.

We bring professional lighting equipment to every shoot, using industry-leading Profoto kit to ensure your images look polished, consistent, and true to your brand. Whether we’re photographing people, interiors, products, or food, our lighting allows us to create natural, flattering imagery in almost any environment while maintaining the highest level of quality.

Is it a takeaway menu item we’re photographing or is it a fine dining dessert?
We’ll work with you to understand what your brand visuals are and what you need to have photographed. It’s really important the food photography aligns with your branding and food style.
You’ll have a clear idea of how the food needs to look on the plate and we’ll have a good idea of the best way to showcase this in a photograph.  So it’s a fusion of you and us both doing brilliant things together.

A key focus is to ensure visual consistency across all images so your menu, website and marketing materials are cohesive and professionally aligned. We do this through consistent lighting, editing and composition so that every photograph says you care.

Every brand has its own visual language and we’re very comfortable working within established aesthetics. Before any shoot, we take time to understand your brand — reviewing mood boards, brand guidelines, previous campaigns and the overall tone of your imagery.
Our aim isn’t simply to copy a style, but to interpret it thoughtfully so the photography feels authentic to your brand while remaining beautifully crafted and consistent across your channels.
If you have references, mood boards or an Instagram style you’d like us to align with, we’re always happy to collaborate and shape the visual direction together.

This depends on the nature of the shoot. Some clients prefer to supply their own ingredients, props or kitchen space so everything aligns perfectly with their brand and products.
However, we’re very happy to help with styling and sourcing where needed. If you have brand guidelines, props, or specific ingredients you’d like included, we can incorporate these into the shoot. Alternatively, we can arrange suitable props, ingredients, and studio facilities to achieve the look and feel you’re after.
We’ll discuss all of this during the planning stage to make sure everything is in place for a smooth and successful shoot.

The number of dishes that can be completed in a session will depend on the complexity of each setup – if you would you prefer a unique look and feel to each dish this will take more time to set up than if you would like to use the same background and layout for each dish – keeping the consistency of background will help you maximise the number of dishes and photographs you’ll be able to produce in the booked time.

We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred shoot date, particularly during busy periods. In most cases, booking 3–4 weeks in advance allows enough time for planning, styling and preparation.
If you’re working to a tighter deadline, please do get in touch — we’ll always do our best to accommodate shorter lead times where our schedule allows.

Every photography session includes base editing to bring consistency and polish to the photograph. Our base edit includes:
Cropping and Straightening: Adjusting the composition to remove distractions and aligning the horizon.
White Balance: Correcting colour temperature and tint to ensure colour appear natural, fixing images that are too “blue” or “yellow”.
Exposure Correction: Adjusting the overall brightness, including boosting shadows and controlling highlights to prevent clipped details.
Contrast and Tone: Using sliders or tone curves to improve the distinction between light and dark areas.
Saturation/Vibrance: Adjusting the intensity of colours.
